Heimo Fladl

Biography:
Born in Kapfenberg in 1964, he grew up in Mürzhofen. The forests and meadows of the surrounding countryside, as well as classical music and films, were and remain his true teachers. Later, he took painting lessons with Ernst Landschbauer. He was a street musician and, with Helga Porpaczy-Zdenek, formed the duo Brechtzeitlose, which performed songs and texts by Bertolt Brecht. He completed his studies in theology.
His encounter with the painter Paul Rotterdam (New York School) and his engagement with Rotterdam's work significantly influenced his artistic practice. Attendance at the Salzburg Summer Academy with renowned American artists Elaine Sturtevant, Lauren Ewing, and Agnes Denes broadened his understanding of art. He began creating environments and developed situations such as Facelook. He wrote poems and prose texts, which were published in various magazines and anthologies. He is currently working on the novel PAN – The Invisible Man. He studied art education at the Academy of Fine Arts under Renée Green. Teaching experience at BRG Viktring, specializing in visual arts, and currently at BOGA3, Vienna.
Studies in Musicology. Other interests include: BUTOH, the free jazz band "StrhapsOtrio," Greek music, spirituality, Zen Buddhism, shamanism, medicinal herbs, exhibitions and performances, noise installations, and free improvisation.
